Morning! It was so warm and glorious yesterday that I could feel my sap rising, like a plant or Seth from Cold Comfort Farm. Soon I will look out of the kitchen window and it will be like this. (It may in fact not be like this at all due to some excessively enthusiastic pruning. I’m not seeing a tremendous amount of promising rose action, tbh, but I suppose it’s only March).

Fingers crossed. I really love giant scabious (the tall pale yellow things on the left) plus it self-seeds like mad.

Today normal temperatures have resumed. Still, having had a glimpse of the weather future, here are some lightly summer-adjacent links for you - things to cook, things to read, things to note.

The news grows more nauseating every day, and sometimes I have to sit on my hands not to write a 2,000 word shriek of outrage instead of e.g. nice links. The other day a friend said, ‘Do you think this is what people felt like before the outbreak of WW2?’. There was a short pause and then we sort of laughed. Sort of. Thinly.

But this newsletter exists to provide respite from all that, for me as much as (I hope) for you. So. Onwards.

Kitchen window. It doesn't even look real. But it was and will be again
