If you’re in London next week and would like some books signed over a mince pie, or just to say hello, then I am at Hatchards Christmas event next Wednesday evening from 6pm and at Foyles Christmas event the next night, Thursday, also from 6pm.

The Foyles event also has beloved Dolly Alderton, friend of terriers and fresh back from Australia, and Rupert Everett, among many, many others. The Hatchards event author list is here (Nigel Slater! Tessa Hadley!) and CRAP I’ve just noticed they have me down as India Hicks. I am not India Hicks. Do you think they’re expecting me to be India Hicks? Or maybe they meant to invite India Hicks and they’ve made a mistake? Or do I get a blonde wig and style it out? I shall get on the phone as soon as I hit Post. It’s like Tim Lott and Toby Litt.

PS if you’re super local, I’m introducing Sadie Frost’s film about Twiggy at the Aldeburgh Documentary Festival on Sunday.

Right, to the links.

  • There’s an official Rivals playlist.

  • I strongly suggest you subscribe to Daisy Dawnay’s brand new newsletter The Gimlet Eye. She was the editor of the genius and much-missed A Little Bird (archive here). Her first post is a particularly good gift guide/list of lovely things.

  • Helen Graves, who writes the best barbecuing books known to personkind (before I read her I used to leave it to the men, pfft and also mostly yuck), has a Substack. It is here and it is great.

Nowhere close to the greatest things about Antwerp, but so sweet: Statue of Friendship by Baptist Vermeulen.
  • A wonderful post about Antwerp ↑.
