I have just seen this. I dampened down Substack notifications as it was becoming ping-bloody-incessant, but that means it doesn’t notify me regarding your posts - MADDENING.
Excellent list! My telly won’t get Rivals, so I’ll silently fume over that affront. But the Wallonian block on the far right is absolutely incredible. I’m afraid that I don’t always feel the need to hear what the other side says. (I know, I know… ‘know thine enemy’. But one can ‘know’ without having to look at bloody Farage and his chums mouthing off on bloody Question Time.)
Keep ‘em coming - as many lists as you like. HUGELY enjoyable!
I think I am mildly traumatised by the depiction of Rupert Campbell-Black - he seems too terrifying to be sexy, there’s something slightly alien about him. He seems to have strayed out of Kaos, where he could have portrayed Dionysius or perhaps Pan.
After all that I didn't watch it - we tossed for it or Industry and Industry won. I have a very clear idea of what RCB should look like and project and it's not Dionyisius or Pan.
Thank you, bless you for Alphaguess. I have so had it with Connections, all these strange American things that its impossible to know (thats my story and Im keeping to it!)- but I love Alphaguess, its such fun!
Regarding the clip on far right in Belgium, how I WISH we had that here too...
I remember learning in History class at a young age, we had the most wondrous teacher- and she said "All extremist political views are bad". Decades later- I strongly agree..
The thing that drives me nuts about Connections is all the US baseball and general sports stuff - no way anyone not American could possibly know. Re clip - yes, I agree too.
I love a brisk list! Oh and India, I stayed at the Cable Street Inn while in London on business this week. It was DIVINE. Thank you so much for the rec.
For Wordle, it’s always starting with “quota”… and with Connections, I just find they get a bit easier if you do them every day - then again, the Americanisms often catch me out!
urgh the ladybirds! We have wooden windows and every time I open one a whole cluster of ladybirds falls on my head. Child 3 being the age she is has found a solution on TikTok which involves spraying white vinegar wherever they appear so that's this afternoon's job. will report back!
Series 1 of Industry is frenetic like that. But stick with it. The most recent (and best) series has less sex in it than jut the first *episode* of Rivals.

Love it
Adored Rivals! Seriously bloody hilarious and joyful and just everyone looks as if they're having the best time!
My New Year's Eve- I'm going to theme it 'Rivals'!
Also loved Death at the Sign of the Rook. Love Reggie.
Lots of other things on the list I love too. Thank you.
Rivals has put me in a ridiculously happy mood!
I LOVE Reggie too, so much. Rivals is this afternoon here. Brilliant theme for a party!
Honestly, if people don't get the theme, they're NBI!😆
Quite right.

Well, now I have to watch Industry just to decide for myself.
Report back. It never ends.
As soon as I’m back on British soil.

Oh this makes me really happy! I'm so pleased you liked it!
Absolutely adore Jackson Brodie. I’m sure some of the early novels were serialised some years ago with the wonderful Jason Isaacs in the lead role.
Love your book and lifestyle suggestions India, keep them coming.
Love from a very sunny Edinburgh x
The BBC did them wonderful well, though it's high time they did more. He (Isaacs) reads them v well on Audible too.
Oh my goodness thank you for Alphaguess… Connections and Quordle are getting too easy now I have a system for them!
Hello Clara! I don't know Quordle, I must go and see.
Oh it’s marvellous, like doing four Wordles at once!
whats the system- do tell!
For Wordle, it’s always starting with “quota”… and with Connections, I just find they get a bit easier if you do them every day - then again, the Americanisms often catch me out!
Love the Jackson Brodie books. Kate Atkinson’s writing is very witty.
She's a genius.

Please do report back. I HATE them.
Blimey!! Fantastic and you make me feel NORMAL :):):):
Hahaha:) well - you may need to verify that word with my children !
Morning, Emma! We need to chat about being normal!

I'm on series 2, about halfway through, and it does seem to be abating *slightly*. It's very good, but yeesh the shagging.
Try Betweenle.com - same idea as alpha guess but with a bit more information to guide your guesses.
Ooh, thank you!
Love your list. New books and shows 👏👏👏🙏
Thank you!
