Hi, I wanted to put a comment in about Crabgate, coz I hee hawed when I read it, and it brought back lovely , yup I know, memories of my beloved family dog Glen. Firstly your wee dog was very clever, ( and beautiful), to steal a lovely dressed crab, how good is that? I wanted to tell you when I was young,( many years ago), it was in the day when a dog license was bought, but you didn't walk dogs the way you do now. We just used to let Glen out alone ( imagine that nowadays), and he d go away all day then come back for his dinner, but come back he did. Once a year he d be gone for hours and when he came back he d be absolutely stinking. We d wash him in the back garden before he d go in the house. We never ever knew what he d rolled in, but he was very happy. I loved him. So thanks for that wee tale.

I visited my in-laws on the coast and took our lab for a walk on the beach. After rolling in the "regurgitation" of a large seabird, she announced her arrival to the rest of the family by jumping on the sofa.

Oh god. Suitably traumatised. Respecting your sense of humour failure and rage - also I KNOW THAT SMELL 🤮 All I can say is please rest assured it’s a good thing it was Jan and not Aug heatwave. Trust me. Road cooked version is horrific.

And only because you are an insanely brilliant writer, I’m ashamed to think a sequel might be on the cards .. Lupin, sensing some fun, may not be finished yet!! Reminded me of a similar and unfathomable stench of dog having rolled in something. Weeks later, I spotted same dog creeping into a hedge. She carefully lifted out, ever so gently, in her mouth, a whole bantam egg, (laid at least 6 months earlier as that’s when last bantam dispatched by fox). Whilst I watched in disbelief at the sheer pleasure she derived, the egg was gently placed on the lawn .. admired and then rolled in! That was a shocker too!

Oh poor you, that sounds complete pants and deeply traumatic. Aren't pets disgusting? And blokes just... Not getting it? Thank you for writing it in a hilarious way when it's so grim. I wish you nice smells.
