Forget the washing up - read this. I spent all yesterday afternoon reading it and there are so many things in it to recognise ..... "I want to be in Charge ...", I loved Ceddy, and Kitty and Priss - going their own way ....
Set alarm to do one final stretch and fold of my sourdough at 4.30am (cannot believe my first attempt loaf so testing if it was beginner's luck or not), and caught up with reading you. Have, just ordered my first ever Lissa Evans book. I love being part of your "gang" and the Roz Chast cartoon is brilliant. Thank you for giving my Sunday a most excellent start!!!
Marvellous. Ordered. I am still getting over having finished Kala by Colin Walsh (the book I messaged you about) - so I am grateful for something entirely different to get lost in. As for Autumn - I have been busy reviewing my jumpers (moths seemed to have largely left them alone, while they have been in storage, so only a few repairs needed) and trying to source some darker-coloured, dried hydrangeas, since the lack of dry weather has prevented me from succeeding with my own, home-grown ones... Thank you!
Thanks India, just bought my first book by this author and I'm really looking forward to reading it! Also pleased to see her titles are translated to Italian which will please my friends in Rimini no end!
Thanks for this, India. I read Old Baggage forever ago, I think because it was on a Heywood Hill newsletter. How can you not absolutely fall for a cross between Pam and Wodehouse?! Have a lovely weekend folks.
Just spotted this in on the Kindle Daily Deals today.
I just know i'm going to love this. Thanks once again for introducing an author who had not appeared on my radar.
I can't wait!!!!!

Bought. Reading in bed right now. I think I’m going to be an Allison fan.
Already ordered this from Blackwells- not available in Canada till the end of October and I can’t wait till then. I am a big fan!
Ooh, thank you! (And for the Roz Chast cartoon:)
Sounds like a good read
What a treat, I too shall order!

OOH, how lovely. I shall make a gallon of tea and read this in the garden this afternoon.
Thank you so much India
How nice - I hope you love it!

Thanks Moira, you too.
I’ve loved all of her books, cannot wait to dive into this one 📖 🫖
She's outdone herself - it is fantastic.
I love the scene in one of her books where Vee and Noel are “ collecting “ for Spitfires and someone points out the Lancaster on the tin .
Yes, so good. Vee and Noel is one of the most rewarding relationships in all literature.
