Such a special post India. I have followed this story with interest over the week and was pleased that others watched the tale unfold with emotions other than just horror. The horses were originally scared and then continued to flee as their stirrups banged their sides, 'spurring' them on. I saw a picture of Vida online, once caught, and there was a certain glint in his eye, with ears pricked forward, which told part of his side of the story...
I'm so glad you said that about feeling exhilarated to see the horses cantering through London because that's exactly what I felt. I kept writing social media posts to say and then deleting them because it felt tasteless.
Beautifully written, India. Infuriating about lack of Army updates, and I've followed the Household Cavalry on Facebook for yonks, so have been hopefully looking for happier news on poor Quaker. Have seen horses exercising on Holkham beach and also (bizarrely) at Wormwood Scrubs - with gun-carriages - an amazing sight. A friend who was part of the late Queen's funeral procession said all horses were as good as gold as they rehearsed endlessly, from about midnight to 3 or 4 am, several nights running, bless them.
I’m so glad you found out their names, Vida reminds me of the horse I had in my teenage years. Horses are special, beautiful and generally kind animals - although endlessly fickle. I hope they recover soon.🤞

I do hope those horses pull through.
I don't understand why we're not being given daily updates. I do a search at least twice a day.
This brought tears to my eyes.
It was the most extraordinary thing - magical, frightening, slightly apocalyptic, horrifying, beautiful - everything.
Yes! Moving and startling and poignant in so many ways.

Me too.
The poor babies. I’m so glad they’re safe. I got the same rush when I saw them xx
I know, thank God they're safe. But I am worried about the black one.
They are the most haunting images and their wild, desperate response very affecting. I do hope they recover.
So do I. Incredible images - like a dream or nightmare.
