Christmas passed on a Texas barbecue note w spicy cornbread and spicier 4 cheese..you guessed it. Was all Damat’s** fun idea with cowboy music too, ‘please daddy don’t get drunk again on Christmas it’l jus make our saweet Mama cry.’

**means Daughter’s kubsie- husband.

Thanks❗️INDIA and I did do over the Christmas bouquet, fewer flowers now w lots flat seeded eucalyptus, these will go on to MLKDay❗️

Christmas for me is deep dive into 15 banker boxes that arrived 3 years ago to an Oxshott shed from my IN Barn. Finally the pallet uncovered and no damage but slight damp so windows open, carpets kilims hundreds 😩 photos in kilim boxes, table linens ample-USEFUL, bricabrac, Indian-Hindistan treasures plus box of old BEST shoes, sorry am foaming so HAPPY. Anyone know correct spray to help carpets and kilims lose their nem=slight damp? No mold or strong whiffy, am airing them and would like a spray along w continuous airing. Course tablecloths etc in the wash.

Sadly didn’t keep any of 40 year young Ralph Lauren sheets, or would send you EVELYN (I believe) oomphy pink cabbage roses on a good green and unbelievable I found the skirt and big shirt blouse to match. INDIA you have stirred the memory lane of what’s not in these boxes❣️❣️

Now that I have finished imitating a blue-arsed fly, I can sit down for 5 minutes to say I absolutely love your Substack. It’s like a friend dropping in for a cuppa and a chat. Worth every penny. And thanks to one of my thoughtful sons, I now have your book Darling to look forward to, which he bought me for Christmas. Got to say, I love the cover (does that make me sound shallow, like someone who buys wine if they like the label, which I’ve actually done?!). It reminds me of that fab IKEA Matisse inspired duvet cover you recommended a few months back, which I later bought for £15!! (Single with pillowcase). Thank you again for such interesting, generous and varied content.

I'm now at peak Christmas Quartermaster stores. Fridge is full. Freezer is full. Cuboards are full. But no one is allowed to eat anything because 'IT'S FOR CHRISTMAS'

Thank you India for your substack. It brings me joy. And Merry Christmas to all the rest of us - have a good one and see you on the other side (which I'm looking forward to more as all our girls/other halves and gorgeous granchildren are coming on 29th)
