I didn't know of this artist and enjoyed going down a rabbit hole to discover his work. But I love these informal paintings best. I love paintings where it appears someone has just has left the room and we are left imagining their lives.

What a little pocket of joy this email is! Happy Sunday to you India. I love the painting, its warmth is so welcoming. The voile curtain detail and the light shining through it is so full of hope. Thank you for sharing.

Wonderful - thank you, as ever. Have a lovely Sunday. I know I’m repetitive about it but your words and thoughts are such a great pep, so full of joy and spirit. When I get a notification that you’ve written I genuinely think “oh I’ll save that as a little treat” so as to sort of delay the gratification. I usually only last an hour though. Would that there were more such writers that can turn an already good mood into a great one by sleight of pen. A gift indeed. I’ll now shut up about it for a bit.

I could lie and say 'I'm blushing,' but actually reading this what I felt was really nice prickling of total happiness. Thank you SO MUCH! I love writing on here and I think it probably comes through. Have an excellent Sunday! Mine had already involved seeing a portable beach sauna which I need to investigate asap.

My pleasure. More thanks! Lovely Sunday here involving grabbing an out-of-stock-online summer dress from M&S, eating a fantastic leftover salad and much cheese, plus purchasing the lipstick you discussed in The Times today, plus a chicken for tonight. I now must research where I want to eat for my birthday lunch out - delicious deep Googling over a Botivo.

It’s Laura Mercier High Vibe Lip Color in shade 182 Bright (£28.50, lookfantastic.com). I got it from Boots. It is completely perfect.

Glad you like it. Yes, the curtain envy is quite strong.

I’d consider selling a body part for that painting. It’s worth getting a Samsung for that! Happy Sunday India
